The lack of affordable and accessible housing is no longer something only advocates or governments care about. It i a shared challenge that affects everyone — the economy, public health, education system, workforce, and neighborhoods. Yet housing is still widely misunderstood, underfunded, and politically divided.
When housing fails, everything else feels the impact.

Changing the Housing Conversation in Louisville
Roof Over Our Head is a coalition of housing advocates, nonprofit developers, service providers, and civic leaders working together to reshape how Louisville thinks about housing.
We connect grassroots energy with policy action by aligning organizations, coordinating advocacy, and elevating voices too often left out of the conversation.
Our work centers on the full housing continuum, from shelter and stability to affordability and choice, because housing solutions must reflect real lived experiences.

We build a consistent, people-centered housing story that counters harmful stereotypes and misconceptions. Through coordinated communications, media engagement, and shared messaging tools, we help the public and decision-makers understand housing as a community issue.
Drive Policy and Funding Wins
We align advocacy efforts to support concrete solutions, including increased shelter capacity, expanded affordable housing supply, and reforms that make housing development inclusive. We also work to strengthen dedicated funding for affordable housing and support decision-makers in prioritizing housing.
Connect People to Power
We build a consistent, people-centered housing story that counters harmful stereotypes and misconceptions. Through coordinated communications, media engagement, and shared messaging tools, we help the public and decision-makers understand housing as a community issue.
Build a Broad Coalition
We unite housing organizations, advocates, and community leaders while expanding partnerships with labor, education, healthcare, faith communities, and business leaders. Our coalition reflects Louisville and works district by district to build lasting public support.
